The three winners of the distance races at the Oregon State 6A Showcase join DyeStat editor Doug Binder to talk about the meet, their training that led up to it, and the upcoming opportunities at the Portland Track Festival and Stumptown Twilight. Vincent Mestler of Sheldon won the 800 meters in 1:56.55 for his first state title and also placed second in the 1,500 in 3:51.59. Mateo Althouse of Lincoln won the 1,500 meters in 3:51.16 and second in the 3,000 in 8:17.54 (10th best in Oregon history). And Charlie Roberston from Franklin retained the 3,000 title he first won in 2019 with 8:14.71, moving to fifth on the all-time Oregon high school list. Robertson was also third in the 1,500 in 3:52.35. Five of those six races between the three runners were personal bests. |
